Local Software Development Firm Builds Momentum in the West

President and co-founder of Blue Sphere Solutions, Inc., Steve Goulet, again heeded the call to “go west”. Only this time, “west” is a little farther than just west of Grand Rapids. His company has been expanding its customer base into the Midwest and Southwest.
Blue Sphere Solutions, Inc., a local software development firm, recently launched a corporate relocation Web portal for Union Pacific in Omaha, NE. Union Pacific is currently moving over 4,000 employees to the new Union Pacific Center in downtown Omaha, with the help of Blue Sphere Solutions. The corporate relocation move portal, developed in collaboration with Intereum of Minneapolis, allows Union Pacific employees to easily access valuable information regarding company relocation details, such as important dates, individualized floor plans, furniture standards, workstation design, emergency procedures and contact information.
Blue Sphere’s plan to expand its regional focus has been gaining serious momentum. Goulet and his team have earned commitments from several new large corporate customers, who have shown a strong interest in utilizing the Web portal for their businesses. Goulet explains, “Throughout our company’s history, we have earned most of our new business through word-of-mouth. This is yet another example of how we have been able to capture the attention of new customers through our existing customer base. This time, we’re building a national base of new customers.” Blue Sphere’s development team is busy developing custom demonstration sites of the same application that the company created for Union Pacific, for several companies throughout the Midwest. “Our goal is to further extend our reach as far as we can and still keep our home base here in West Michigan.”
The company does not currently have plans to open offices in other states, but Goulet says that he is definitely keeping it within the long-term scope. “Companies need to be aggressive in these tough economic times and we’re certainly no exception. Through our successful relationship building with companies here in West Michigan, we’ve been very fortunate to have doors opened that we may not have been able to open on our own.”
